PRP Rejuvenation for Skin and Hair
Living in Florida means lots of sunshine. While it boosts our mood and tans our skin, it can also be hard on our skin and hair. Thankfully, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) rejuvenation is just the thing to get your skin and hair back to being the picture of health.
PRP Rejuvenation for Skin
PRP facials are sometimes referred to as vampire facials – yikes! But, that is just a silly name for a wonderful skin treatment that uses your own blood plasma to rejuvenate your skin. Because the plasma comes from your own blood, it eliminates the issue of bad or allergic reactions that can occur from lab-created treatments.
PRP is an abbreviation for platelet-rich plasma. This treatment can reduce wrinkles. It can also add volume to your cheeks and face giving you a more youthful appearance. It can reduce the hollows under your eyes which can make you look tired or older. It can improve your skin tone and reduce the effects of sun damage. It can also be used to treat skin conditions such as rosacea or to minimize scars.
Now it’s time for a very quick, simple biology lesson about platelets so that you know why we recommend this treatment! Your blood platelets regenerate tissue and cells, promote collagen growth, and provide nutrients. Collagen growth is especially important because your body decreases the amount of collagen produced as you age. This decrease can actually begin in your 20s or 30s. Your blood platelets can help heal and rejuvenate your body.
PRP Rejuvenation for Hair Growth
One of the exciting things about PRP treatments is that they have been found to be beneficial for those with hair loss caused primarily by androgenic alopecia (hormone-related baldness). While androgenic alopecia is often referred to as male pattern baldness, it can affect both men and women. For men, baldness usually occurs at the front and top portions of the head. For women, baldness or hair thinning usually occurs on the top or crown of the head, often beginning with their part growing wider. The treatment is administered the same as PRP treatments for the skin but with the injections being given in the scalp.
Studies are showing that PRP treatments for hair growth are having measurable success in the reduction of hair loss, the density of hair growth, and an increase in the diameter of hairs which helps hair to appear fuller. Because it is not a cure for hair loss, additional treatments will be needed to maintain the positive changes in your hair. This is also true with other hair loss treatments, such as Rogaine.
What Is the Process Involved in Prp Treatments?
Now that you understand the benefits of PRP treatments, you may be interested in them. But, maybe you are a little nervous because you don’t know exactly what to expect. It is a simple and relatively painless or low–pain procedure.
One of our fabulous nurse practitioners will draw your blood. You have probably had this done at the doctor’s office before and know that it is a very quick, little prick. We then place your blood in the centrifuge which is a machine that spins your blood very quickly. This process separates the platelets from the other parts of the blood. We then mix your platelets with a smaller amount of your blood. Lastly, we inject this mixture into the desired areas to achieve the skin or hair rejuvenation that you desire.
The full results may take a few weeks to appear. It is not immediate, but you will see the gradual improvement. You may wish to receive additional treatments to receive the desired outcome. With a study showing that over 97% of patients were satisfied with their results, we feel confident that you will be too!
