Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a professional skin treatment that uses a specially formulated chemical solution to gently remove the outermost layers of dead or damaged skin. By encouraging the body’s natural cell turnover process, a peel reveals fresher, smoother, and more evenly toned skin underneath. Chemical peels can help improve the appearance of fine lines, acne, pigmentation, sun damage, and uneven texture. Depending on the depth of the peel (superficial, medium, or deep) the treatment can range from a light exfoliation with minimal downtime to a more intensive resurfacing procedure that targets deeper skin concerns. The result is a clearer, brighter, and more youthful-looking complexion.

Types of Chemical Peels We Offer

Mandelic acid peel – a gentle yet effective peel derived from bitter almonds. It’s part of the alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) family and is known for its larger molecular structure, which allows it to penetrate the skin slowly and evenly—making it ideal for sensitive skin types and darker complexions. This peel helps exfoliate dead skin cells, improve texture, and reduce fine lines without causing irritation. It’s also excellent for treating mild acne, pigmentation, and dullness, leaving the skin smooth, bright, and refreshed with little to no downtime.

Salicylic Acid Peel a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) treatment that works deep within the pores to dissolve oil and debris. Because salicylic acid is oil-soluble, it’s particularly effective for acne-prone or congested skin. It helps unclog pores, reduce blackheads and breakouts, and minimize excess shine, all while calming inflammation. This peel provides a thorough cleansing effect and refines the skin’s surface, revealing a clearer, more balanced complexion.

Jessner Peel – is a medium-depth combination peel that blends lactic acid, salicylic acid, and resorcinol. This multi-acid formula targets multiple concerns at once—such as fine lines, acne, uneven tone, and hyperpigmentation. The peel works by breaking down the outer layer of skin, encouraging new cell growth and stimulating collagen production. It provides a more dramatic rejuvenation than lighter peels, resulting in smoother texture, reduced blemishes, and a brighter, more even complexion after a short recovery period.

TCA Peel (Trichloroacetic Acid Peel) – a powerful, customizable peel that penetrates deeper layers of the skin to address more advanced concerns like wrinkles, sun damage, and pigmentation. This peel removes damaged surface cells while stimulating collagen and elastin production underneath. As the skin heals, new, healthier skin emerges that looks tighter, smoother, and more youthful. TCA peels often involve a few days of visible peeling but deliver transformative, long-lasting results.

How is a Chemical Peel Performed?

This type of chemical peel can be applied to the face, neck, and chest. After prepping the skin, the peel solution is applied to the desired areas by our trained aesthetician. The solution is left on the skin for several minutes and then is neutralized. The aesthetician then gently cleans the area and applies ointment to help speed along the healing process, and post care instructions are given. The entire process only takes about 30 minutes. After 2-3 days, the skin will temporarily darken and start to peel, which generally lasts between 3-5 days depending on the depth of the peel. After the skin stops peeling the results become apparent; the skin will appear younger, firmer, and more even in pigment and texture.

It’s important to follow your aftercare instructions carefully, including gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and daily sun protection, to maximize your results and protect your refreshed skin. Whether you’re looking to reduce fine lines, clear breakouts, or simply restore a healthy glow, a chemical peel is a safe and effective way to rejuvenate your skin from within.
