PRP Microneedling for Hair Growth

PRP Microneedling

According to www.medlineplus.com, “Androgenetic alopecia is a common form of hair loss in both men and women.”  You may have heard it referred to as “male pattern baldness.”  While men will actually bald with this condition, women generally have an overall thinning of hair without actual baldness occurring.  If you are experiencing balding and would like to fight it, then PRP microneedling for hair growth may be the answer, and Fountain of You is the place to go!

More About Balding

It has long been said that baldness is inherited from the mother’s side, so if your maternal grandfather was bald, watch out!  This appears to be an old wives’ tale.  According to Harvard Health Publishing, it seems that the condition depends on genes contributed by both parents, so you can’t specifically blame Grandpa Bill!

While there are other forms of hair loss, androgenetic alopecia is a frequent cause of hair loss affecting an estimated 50 million men and 30 million women in the United States.  Additionally, this type of baldness is often accompanied by other health issues, such as prostate problems in men and polycystic ovarian syndrome in women.  If you are experiencing baldness, it would be wise to see your physician to make sure you maintain good health.

What Is PRP Microneedling?

Let’s move on to the good news!  You may not have to simply shrug your shoulders in defeat and accept that you’re balding.  There is hope for hair regrowth.  The term “microneedling” may make you nervous, but this is a safe, effective, and nonsurgical treatment for balding.  The acronym PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma.  Dermacare, located in San Diego, states on their website that “PRP is a highly concentrated group of human blood cells that can promote healing and new cellular growth.  PRP contains stem cells and growth factors that can stimulate cell growth, tissue repair, collagen growth, and healthy cell production, resulting in longer, fuller, and thicker hair regrowth when injected into the hair follicles.”

We will draw your blood, the PRP will be separated from the rest of your blood, then injected directly into your scalp.  It may require multiple treatments, spaced a few months apart.  The great thing about PRP microneedling is that not only has it been shown to be effective, but you have little chance of having an adverse reaction as it is derived from your own blood.

Will It Work?

While we cannot guarantee that your hair follicles will respond, we think you will be very encouraged by this study which shows that patients showed significant improvement in hair growth after six months when having the PRP microneedling procedure done in conjunction with topical minoxidil as opposed to those who only used the topical hair growth serum.
