Acne scars can be repaired through microneedling, dermaplaning, and chemical peels. These services can be obtained at Fountain of You, a med spa with locations in Melbourne, FL, and Merritt Island, FL. These services are exceptionally effective in repairing acne scars.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, 80% of people between the ages of 11 and 30 will get acne. As cited above, approximately 20% of those people will have scars because of it. Acne scarring occurs because your body is trying to repair the acne. If your scars are raised, then your body may have produced too much collagen during the repair. Other scars may look like indentations or pits in the skin resulting from tissue loss. If you are one of the many people with acne scars, then keep reading to learn what you can do about it.
At Fountain of You, we offer microneedling using the Vivace RF Microneedling device. This device has 36 gold-tipped needles which are close together allowing it to float smoothly over your skin. The 70-watt patterned RF consistently distributes heat throughout the procedure to help reduce redness, burning, and discomfort that you might experience with other devices.
We have found that microneedling is especially effective when combined with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment. A small blood draw will need to be done. The platelets are then separated and injected back into your body. This encourages collagen growth, tissue regeneration, and the provision of nutrients, all of which help in the treatment of acne scars!
This month we are offering a special at our Melbourne location – a Vivace RF Microneedling Session plus a Cool Peel Laser Facial for $1000 which is a savings of $300. The Cool Peel Laser Facial removes damaged skin tissue and stimulates collagen growth. The microneedling session and Cool Peel Laser Facial make an outstanding combination when it comes to reducing acne scars!
Dermaplaning is a more “simple” technique than microneedling. Your face will be cleansed, toned, and degreased. Then, your face will be gently scraped with a scalpel – scraped, not cut. It is painless. Extractions (removal) of blackheads and pimples will also be done. Lastly, skin products will be applied to your skin to help meet your specific skin needs. Some clients have a chemical peel done after their dermaplaning to make the most of their treatment.
An additional benefit to dermaplaning is that it removes the vellum hair from the face. Vellum hair is often referred to as “peach fuzz.” Everyone’s skin has it. However, some people have more than they like. This may be particularly embarrassing for women who appear to have a fuzzy face or sideburns. Your hair will grow back, but dermaplaning is an easy, effective way to treat acne scars and vellum hair!
#3 Chemical Peels
At Fountain of You, we perform chemical peels using TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid). It is a type of skin resurfacing that removes the top layer of skin (invisible to the eye) allowing fresh, new, undamaged skin to appear. The strength of the TCA can be adjusted based on your needs to create a shallow, medium, or deep peel. The solution is left on for several minutes, then neutralized. At that point, the aesthetician will gently cleanse the skin and apply ointment to aid in healing. After a couple of days or so, your skin will begin to peel. This process will last for at least a few days depending on the depth of your peel. Don’t schedule your annual family photos during this time!
