What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a facial that starts with a quick cleansing, toning, and degreasing, followed by pore extraction (bye-bye, blackheads!). All of this is then followed by the scraping procedure. The scraping procedure is done with a surgical scalpel, but there is NO cutting involved, merely scraping of the skin.
What Is Microdermabrasion?
Facials such as our OxyGeneo Superfacial are microdermabrasion facials. Microdermabrasion facials are conducted using an abrasive, sanding-type tool to sand away the outer layer of dead skin cells.
How Are They Alike and Different?
While both area type of facial, they use different instruments to achieve their goal. Dermaplaning uses the scalpel, and microdermabrasion uses the “sanding” tool. Dermaplaning is an excellent way to remove unwanted “peach fuzz.” Women, especially, may feel uncomfortable if they think their face appears fuzzy. Dermaplaning is the solution for that. Additionally, dermaplaning can help reduce the appearance of acne scars. On the other hand, microdermabrasion focuses more on the evening of skin tone, such as hyperpigmentation or dark spots. Is either Facial Painful?
No, neither facial is painful. Neither requires any form of sedation or numbing. Dermaplaning is done with a light stroke and may even feel relaxing to you. Microdermabrasion has been compared to feeling like your face is being licked by a cat – a bit gritty but not painful!
