Fountain of You Offers Medical Marijuana Recommendations

Amendment 3 will be on the Florida voting ballot this November.  This amendment gives voters the opportunity to vote on the legalization of recreational marijuana use in Florida.  It would require recreational users to be 21 years of age and would limit them to possessing no more than three ounces.  Until then, it is currently only legal with a medical marijuana prescription which must be obtained from a physician.  Even if recreational use is approved, it will take months for all the regulations to be enacted and recreational use to begin legally.  If you have been wondering where to obtain your medical marijuana recommendation, then look no further.  Dr. Kim Zipper-Hallinan of Fountain of You offers medical marijuana recommendations.

Marijuana can be legally smoked or taken in the form of an edible if you possess a medical marijuana card which is obtained through a prescription from a physician.  You must have a condition that is helped by the use of marijuana in order to receive a medical marijuana card.  The marijuana must be medical-grade and obtained from a legal source, such as a medical marijuana dispensary.

The use of marijuana for both medical and recreational purposes has been hotly debated for many years.  In 2016 Florida voters chose to legalize the use of medical marijuana by a vote of 71% to 29%.  It was a landslide in favor of it.  Over ⅔ of the states allow medical marijuana use and almost half allow recreational use.  Now, in the upcoming election, Florida voters again have an opportunity to voice their opinion on marijuana use.  This time it is to determine if it should be legal, according to state law, to use marijuana recreationally.

What Is Medical Marijuana?

In case you are not very familiar with marijuana in either a medical or recreational form, we want to further explain it to clear up questions you may have.  Medical marijuana is used to treat a wide variety of conditions. Some conditions that marijuana is prescribed for include, but are not limited to:

  • Anxiety
  • Cancer
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Chronic pain
  • Parkinson’s
  • PTSD
  • Seizure disorders

There are specific limits to medical marijuana.  It must be obtained from a state-licensed dispensary.  It cannot be grown at home.  There are also limits to the amount of marijuana a doctor can prescribe.  Additionally, a prescription is good for a specific amount of time, such as three 70-day supplies.

It’s important to note that marijuana is still illegal according to federal law.  So, an employer may still require drug testing and can terminate your employment if you fail a drug test.  They are not required to allow their employees to partake in marijuana even in a state-approved form.  This is understandable when you think about it in certain terms.  For example, would you want your first-grader’s teacher to come to school high?  Or, what about your surgeon?  You can see why there are still federal limits and employee limitations.

Why Do We Offer Medical Marijuana Recommendations?

The reasons we offer medical marijuana recommendations are simple.  First, it can genuinely help people with certain medical conditions.  We cannot see the benefit of making a cancer patient suffer.  Chemotherapy treatments often reduce appetite to a dangerous point.  The use of medical marijuana can increase appetite, often referred to as “the munchies,” which is beneficial for many cancer patients.  Additionally, it can help with the pain and discomfort of cancer and its treatments.  This is just one example of the many conditions that medical marijuana can benefit.

Second, marijuana is natural.  We believe in whole body health and anti-aging at Fountain of You.  Our name says it all!  Opioids are often prescribed for chronic pain and can be dangerously addictive.  Other prescriptions that are not addictive are actually dangerous to stop “cold turkey.”  Not everyone wants to put these kinds of addictive or dangerous chemicals into their bodies.  Marijuana is a natural alternative that does not come with such dangers.  Its efficacy and the fact it is natural make it a simple choice for us.  We believe it can truly benefit many clients while protecting them from the dangers of certain pharmaceuticals.

Fountain of You Promotes Whole Body Wellness

As an anti-aging med spa, Fountain of You promotes whole-body wellness.  This can include getting hormonal help for menopause and andropause.  It may include skin care treatments to treat age spots or scarring.  And, it can include a recommendation for medical marijuana to treat specific conditions.  Our bodies are amazing and intricate and no two people are exactly alike.  Your body may react completely differently to a medication than someone else.  We want to help you achieve whole health to be the best youthful you that you can be!  If medical marijuana can benefit your health journey, then we want to be there to help you.
