The Many Uses of Microneedling

The Many Uses of Microneedling

Skin issues can affect our daily lives.  It’s not like you can wear a ski mask in Florida to hide your acne scars!  There are a variety of treatments for skin conditions, but we would like to focus on microneedling.  Microneedling is known to help with various skin conditions, but continued technology has made microneedling a treatment that is effective for many uses.

Microneedling is used to increase the production of collagen and elastin to address a variety of issues.  While initially used to treat skin issues such as fine lines and wrinkles, microneedling technology has advanced in such a way that it can also be used to address many other conditions,  particularly those affecting women.  Urinary incontinence, lack of vaginal sensation, and the appearance of cellulite can all be improved with microneedling treatments combined with radio frequency.

Microneedling has been found to be effective for a variety of issues.  Fountain of You has offered microneedling for years, but we have expanded the line of tools we use in order to treat a wide variety of issues with microneedling.  You may be surprised by all that microneedling can do for you, so we encourage you to read this article, and then give us a call to set up your microneedling appointment.

Traditional Microneedling

Microneedling, also called percutaneous collagen induction therapy, is performed using a handheld, drum- or pen-shaped device, electrically powered, with tiny needles that make precise, microscopic punctures in the skin. These “micro-injuries” do not leave scars; they work by helping to stimulate the skin to repair itself naturally through a process called dermal remodeling.

The process of microneedling stimulates the skin to produce new collagen.  We lose collagen with age which is partially responsible for the lines and wrinkles we experience as we grow older.  According to dermatologist, Dr. Ohara Aivaz, women can lose up to 30% of their collagen production in the first 5 years of menopause.  That’s a drastic collagen loss that takes a rough toll on the appearance of your skin.  Microneedling can help encourage much-needed collagen production.

What Else Can Microneedling Do For You?

We are so glad you asked!  At Fountain of You, we are excited to share that we have added cutting-edge microneedling treatments to our list of services available to our clients.

  • Female issues – Microneedling is no longer just for skin treatments. The Vtone and Morpheus8V can help alleviate frequent urinary urge and mixed urinary incontinence.  These tools can be used to address weak pelvic floor muscles, enhance blood circulation, and increase blood flow.  Aging, childbirth, and menopause all take a toll on a woman’s body.  These new microneedling tools can greatly improve incontinence, lack of physical pleasure, and more.  Before you think tiny needles in your private area sound terrifying, remember this is MICROneedling.  They are very tiny AND a topical anesthetic can be applied to alleviate any potential pain.

  • Cellulite reduction – Morpheus 8 and Morpheus 8 Body can address a variety of skin issues by stimulating collagen production. These tools are gentle enough to be used on the face, neck, and eyes.  They can also be used on body areas to liquefy fat in order to reduce the appearance of cellulite giving your body a more toned, contoured appearance.

  • Increase toned appearance – With the appropriate name, Tone, this tool can help increase the appearance of your abdomen, flanks, and buttocks. It emits pulses for electrical muscle stimulation.  It can help restore strength to muscles.

All of these technologies are available with our EmpowerRF station.  These microneedling techniques are combined with radio frequency to help stimulate collagen and elastin production.  These tools can be truly life-changing for women who suffer from very personal issues, such as bladder leakage.

Additional Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling requires minimal recovery time.  It is safe for all skin types and suitable for various skin tones and types.  Check out these before and after pictures to see what it can do for your skin.  It is non-invasive and uses local anesthetic only.  And don’t forget the added benefit that comes intrinsically with this type of treatment – the boost in your spirit as you begin to feel better about yourself.  Knowing you don’t have to worry about having an incontinence accident when running errands can be truly life-changing.  For someone else, it may be the reduction of acne scars that makes her feel comfortable in her own skin again.  The benefits of microneedling are varied.
