What is SCALE?
SCALE is the Symposium for Cosmetic Advances & Laser Education. It is an annual gathering in Nashville of aesthetic providers, medical and cosmetic dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and administrators of such offices. This year’s event welcomed over 1300 attendees and over 125 vendors! This symposium is a place where practitioners can learn from leaders, pioneers, and researchers in the fields of medical and cosmetic dermatology, aesthetic medicine, and plastic surgery.
The topics discussed were wide-ranging and informative. While there were sessions on topics such as lasers and energy-based devices and neuromodulators like Botox, there were also sessions regarding updates on treating skin conditions like rosacea and scarring and updates on skin cancer treatments. Each day was full of information presented by physicians from all over the world. Attendees could attend the multitude of sessions available each day or attend all-day special sessions devoted to specific topics.
Special sessions available included learning about facial anatomy and fillers, devices such as IPL and microneedling devices, neck and chest rejuvenation, and more. Each lecture is broken up into smaller topics. For example, the lecture on devices is broken up into 5 sessions discussing different topics such as Laser and IPL for Pigment and Vascular and RF and Conventional Microneedling Devices. Each day is dedicated to a topic. When attending special sessions, practitioners aren’t listening to someone speak for an hour, then leaving proclaiming to be an expert. They are spending intensive time learning about the up-to-date methods, devices, and products available.
