What is Intense Pulsed Light Therapy?
Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) is a laser therapy aimed to improve the color and texture of your skin without surgery. The pigment cells in your skin absorb the light energy, converting it into heat which then destroys the unwanted pigment such as freckles or age spots. It can also destroy a hair follicle to prevent unwanted hair from growing.
IPL is similar to laser treatment. However, while laser treatment uses only one wavelength, IPL releases light of many different wavelengths. These differing wavelengths cause the light to be more scattered which allows IPL to penetrate the second layer of the skin without damaging the surface layer. Therefore causing less damage to your skin. And, when you are having a skin treatment, the last thing you want from it is skin damage!

So, you will want to make your appointment ahead of time to allow for this. You should avoid direct sunlight, chemical peels, tanning beds, bikini waxing, and collagen injections. We offer some of these treatments, and in of themselves, these treatments are not harmful. It is not recommended shortly prior to an IPL treatment.
